SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
The Tejano NextGen Fund supports graduating high school seniors in Texas who are actively involved in Tejano or Conjunto music.
Our goal is to encourage and invest in student musicians who are helping carry the tradition forward.
2026 Inaugural Scholarship
- Award Amount: $1000.00
- Eligibility: Graduating Texas high school seniors
- Focus: Students actively involved in Tejano or Conjunto music
Future scholarship awards may increase as the fund grows.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants Must:
- Be a graduating high school senior in Texas
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Demonstrate involvement in Tejano or Conjunto
- Plan to pursue post-secondary education (college, trade school, technical program, or accredited music program)
Required Application Materials
- Completed scholarship application
- Short personal essay 250 words minimum
- One letter of recommendation (teacher, music director, or mentor)
- Unofficial high school transcript
- 2-3 minute video performance demonstrating involvement in Tejano or Conjunto music.

Students involved in school programs as well as independent student musicians are encouraged to apply
Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated using a structured scoring rubic. Individual reviewer scores and deliberations will remain confidential to protect the integrity of the process and the privacy of the applications.

- May 18, 2026 - Scholarship Recipient Announced
